Buck Smith’s 40th Bday At Kona Recap!

Posted on 26 January 2008

About 200 people showed up Saturday afternoon at Kona Skatepark to help bring in Buck Smith’s 40th Birthday. He was genuinely surprised and clueless to the party that had been planned by his wife and mom. Oversized versions of all his board graphics, magazine ads and classic pics were on display throughout the skatepark. It was like walking through a history of skateboarding past and present. A documentary film w as put together by long time friend and skater, Jamie Stowers (better known as Big Jim). He interviewed several of Buck’s closest friends and family members and mixed it up with classic footage spanning the entirety of Buck’s skateboarding life. It was followed by 3 punk bands: Slumpbuster, The Ruins and The Worst. Classic times with classic punk rock.
