Skateboarding Off Slide into a Pool

Tags: , , ,

What is the best and most exiting part of a pool? Well its the slide of course. Here we see Dave Ruel rolling in from the slide over and over again until he lands it. Rueler is pretty narley and so is this slide. Skateboarding down a slide is nuts.

Grind The Skateboard Movie Behind the Scenes

Tags: , , , ,

It was nice and sunny today on the set of “The Grind” in Malibu, CA. The movie is set to shoot for an estimated 4 weeks with several pro-skaters set to make appearances as stunt doubles. I caught up with Brian Patch, Bucky Lasek and Neil Hendrix on the set today. I also ran into Preston Lacy from the movie Jackass. Brian Patch arrived from Sydney, Australia at 7 in the morning to shoot his stunt. Brian and I spent the day hanging out, waiting for the directors to yell “Action!” With our own personal masseuse courtesy of the director, I’d have to say the set was pretty plush. Free food, free massage and not much work are always nice amenities. When I arrived at 7 in the morning, four of the main actors were shooting their reactions to a stunt to be performed by Brian Patch. In the scene, Brian was going to be towed in on a quad to make a jump off of a big kicker landing into some porta-potties. About five porta-potties, which were on hydraulics, were to be knocked over, except for the last one, which was occupied by Preston Lacy, whose massive weight stops the domino effect. The scene was shot in seven different sequences. Brian didn’t make his jump until 2:30 in the afternoon. The shoot went well.

Meanwhile, Neil Hendrix got to play a Warner Bros. corporate hot shot. Wearing a suit and a gray wig, Neil would do the skateboarding, while the cameras cut to the actor doing all the talking and getting all the girls. The actor ended up getting mobbed by 8 girls in bikinis telling him he was a cool skater. It was pretty funny, especially due to the fact that it was now five o’clock in the evening and way too cold to be dressed like that. Bucky Lasek was also there, however I didn’t get the chance to see him skate. He must have been there for a speaking role. I did, however get to sneak into his make-up trailer and get a shot of him having his face powdered, which was pretty funny. I still don’t know when “The Grind” will be coming out to theaters, but it looks good and they have Morgan Stone working with the skaters to make it as realistic as possible.

Video Clip of Pro Skateboarder Mark Gator Rogowski

Tags: , , , ,

Mark Gator Rogowski was one of the best vert skateboarders in the 80’s. Brad Dorfman of Vision Skateboards saw this and marketed the hell out of him. He was wearing all sorts of Vision Streetwear stuff and and was living the lifestyle of a rockstar. He was a madman on the vertramp as scene in the video clip below. He got rich quick and had everything and then vert skateboarding became unpopular and the money started to disappear. What happened next well Gator found religion but that didn’t help him out to much. When his girlfriend left him he snapped and ended up raping and killing one of her friends and dumped it in the desert.
He later confessed to the murder and is now serving 31 years to life in prison. Well here is a look back when Gator was on the top of the world and kicking ass on the vert ramp

Skateboard Mag Review of Baker Skateboards Decks

Tags: , ,

Well, I’m not that great of a skater, so I’ll tell you what I know. I can pop some clean ollies and am working on my heelflip, and this board has been doing wonders for me. I got the 7.56 inch Baker Logo Deck, and it is the best deck I ever ridden. I’ve ridden a Mystery (nothin special), 2 Elements (Horrible pop, no flip, no concave, I could go on), World Industries (Great pop at first, chipped alot) and Enjoi (Lost it’s pop like crazy). I suggest the logo board. It had amazing pop, flips were fast, pretty strong, and they have pretty good designs and a good team.

my baker rocks it still has good flip and ok pop no pressure cracks and it won’t chip easy i only have 1 chip and i have had it for 2 months i learned how to hellflip on it 360 nollie shuvit and variel

Skateboard Magazine Product Review 187 Pro Knee Pads

Tags: , ,

I went and bought a pair of “187 Pro Knee Pads”. Wow! These 187 pads are the best I have ever owned. They fit perfectly tight and have never slipped. The 187 Pro Knee Pads wrap high up my leg and over the knee so there is no way for the pads to slip down. I highly recommend them!!

I bought a set of TSG Force III knee pads in August, they were primarily used for vert and transition skating. I routinely had to adjust and re-adjust the TSG pads all day. I have numerous abrasions where the pads slid down during a bail out and my knees got scraped. Recently, the left knee pad literally split open down the side during a bail out and my bare knee smashed onto the concrete, ouch!! I notified the manufacturer who wanted me to send them a couple of pictures of the damage. I sent the pics, but they never responded. I even emailed them twice and still no response.
