I just debarked today from a 3-day cruise
aboard the Carnival Paradise and I wanted to go and give "my two cents" on this
particular cruise.
This was my first Mexican cruise and I didnt know what to expect but I had a
great time! The ship left from Long Beach on Friday and we got off the ship nice
and early on Monday morning.
The best thing about Carnival cruises is it's party atmosphere. This cruise is
really geared towards the younger crowd. It is active, lively and pretty loud at
most times. I recommend this cruise mainly for singles and younger couples
looking to get away. If you do have children, leave them at home especially if
you are going to check out Papas and Beer.
The ship is HUGE-10 decks and was incredibly clean and well kept. Our stateroom
was kept very clean by a great cabin steward (Wijay or something) he seemed to
clean it and turn down the sheets everytime we left. I was in the Riviera Deck
which was at the bottom of the ship. Stateroom had a good bathroom, a closet, TV
with a few stations, and a few twin beds since I booked last minute.
Food: The food in the dining rooms was good. No complaints. The service was good
as well. Our waiter was good we got pretty roudy at dinner time and they put up
with our shit which was cool. If you wanted to skip dressing up for dinner there
were plenty of other places to eat but for me a few dress up dinners was pretty
cool.
Casino: Have you heard of anybody hitting it big on a cruise ship? Me either, I
stayed away from the gambling all together but it was packed in the Casino the
whole time.
Ensenada: To me Ensenada is pretty much the same as Tijuana, just closer to the
ocean and it has been cleaned up quite a bit since the last time I went there
about 10 years ago. We opted for the the blowhole (La Bufadora) trip and it was
pretty much like walking through the Santee Ally in LA with people trying to get
you to buy shit, you walk to the blowhole, take a few pics and get back on the
bus. Not the most exciting but I am glad I got off the ship for a few hours.
After that we went to the Convention Center for a quick tour and then they
dropped us off downtown so we could check out all the drunken idiots at Papas
and Beer and Hussongs Cantina. We have to be back on the ship by 5:30 pm which
was lame and they could have let us pary they night away in Ensenada but instead
we left and all sunday was spent at see way off the coast. We kind of took the
direct route down there friday night and the indirect route back which left
Saturday night.
Sunday was the "Fun Day at Sea" which basically means getting hammered on the
ship all day. It was fun doing the water slide, playing miniature golf, ping
pong and other assorted events and we had another nice dinner, followed by a
pretty funny comedy show. We checked out the Hollywood musical for a few minuted
but that wasnt very exciting. The bottom line is that the trip was pretty much
what I expected for a 3 day trip. I would like to look at going on a longer
cruise next time but leaving from Long Beach was a breeze for me since I live
here.
