Lake Forest, CA. (28 October, 2003) - We are proud to announce the latest addition to the etnies team, Stefan Janoski!
Who else could it possibly be? After all, with the smooth, buttery style that Stefan is known for (I should hope you've seen his incredible part in the Habitat video, Mosaic . If not, stop reading this and go get it now!), he couldn't be a more perfect fit for etnies. "Stefan Janoski?" questions etnies own Arto Saari when asked about his new skateboarding associate. "It (skateboarding) simply doesn't get any smoother than that. His skating is fucking brilliant!"
We are excited about welcoming Stefan to the etnies team and, according to him, the feeling is more than mutual. "I'm definitely psyched to be a part of etnies" he says. "Shit's gonna blow-up in 2004!" While Stefan may be new to the etnies team, he's not new to our shoes, and is currently enjoying skating in some of his all-time favorites--the classic etnies Rap and the newly-released etnies Thesa. Keep an eye on Stefan, because, as he said, shit is definitely gonna blow-up!
Stefan Janoski
Please help us welcome the one and only Stefan Janoski to etnies!
éS team riders Tom Penny, Justin Eldridge, P.J. Ladd, Rodrigo TX, and Eric Koston all attended the Active / éS Best Trick contest this Saturday at the Long Beach Convention Center. Although Koston didn't win the event, he did pull off the spectacular “Pizza Boy” stunt from the infamous Tony Hawk Pro Skater video game. Just amazing!
P.J. Ladd showed-up to the best trick contest, as well, but decided it wasn't for him and skated flatground out in front of the Convention Center. Shocking news, huh? Meanwhile, inside, Justin Eldridge focused his energy at the contest on the bump to bench, working the manual magic and flatground footwork and mostly avoiding the "funbox" turmoil that was taking place just a few feet away. Mr. Penny tried hard for the gold (or the ,000, as you may call it) this weekend at the best trick contest. Although he didn't win, he did execute a huge 360 flip transfer over the eight-foot wide ramp gap. Big ups to Tom for his amazing skating.
Following the contest, Justin took advantage of being in Long Beach by having a little session at the now-famous Long Beach rails. Justin put on a clinic for the other kids there skating, with switch front boardslides, nollie front boards, and switch frontside tailslides, all first or second try. Just another day in the life for Justin.
Rick McCrank cut the old head open this weekend at the éS team photo shoot. He accidentally landed on photographer Atiba Jefferson's board as Atiba bailed a flatbar trick, slid out and bashed his head against a Koston box from RampLogic. Although Rick was fine after receiving six staples in his head, he was not able to compete in the Active / éS Best Trick contest this Sunday. He did make it through the photo shoot, though, before heading home to Vancouver. We're wishing you a speedy recovery, Rick. Kids, call AntiSocial and tell 'em you hope he gets well quick! (You'll have to be resourceful and find the number yourself!)
In other éS news, there are rumors of a Hawaii demo on Oahu with the entire éS team sometime in late November. Maybe the Hawaiian kids will have something else to be thankful about this year!
Scuba Steve has a girlfriend now (and she has Scuba Steve).
Honorable Mention: All the kids who came down to the Best Trick contest in Long Beach to show their support for the éS team this weekend. Thanks again!
Special No Thanks To: The kids who stole the PJ Ladd stencil from the spray-paint operation at the éS booth, and the guy who stole Tony E's custom Girl deck...
